Animal Welfare and Animal Rights

Far too many cases of livestock mistreatment have been reported in this country. Factory-farms are the primary environment where such behavior is documented. We believe livestock should be raised using husbandry that allows every species to live in accord with its evolved behavior. Birds, hogs and the array of ruminants (hoofed animals) need the ability to roam and forage for their food. Mothers must be allowed to rear young as they would without human intervention that thwarts natural behavior. Slaughter facilities must be designed and operated to minimize stress and prevent suffering.

We support policies and programs that ensure humane treatment of animals because they must be afforded the right to be respected and honored for their contributions to human existence. For more, see our position on Grass-finished and Meat Consumption.
