Food is life. It is the fuel of the biological body and the inspiration for our emotions and intellect. If it is healthy, food will energize us and build our resilience in the face of disease and injury. If it is unhealthy we are broken down. There appears to be a huge uptick in autoimmune disease, cancers and diabetes and food is certainly part of the complex equation of causation. Nutritional impact on health is a key driver of the food movement. Here is an interesting Civil Eats piece on the power of story telling, often born of food-related health issues, in powering the food movement. We think that removing toxics and returning micronutrients to our food is an essential goal in this century. Industrial agriculture and highly-processed food are, in our view, based on a review of scientific literature, causing unintended and undesired harm.
